About Us
We are a family business, 100% Portuguese, with 45 years of history, which takes care, since its foundation, with the creation of social, environmental and economic value, always maintaining a strong investment in innovation and development of new products.
We are market leaders in Portugal in the development, manufacture and commercialization of useful products for the hygiene and cleaning of the home, laundry care, storage and organization of the home, such as brushes, mops, brooms, buckets, storage boxes, among others, for domestic and professional purposes.
We currently have a team of around 130 employees, of which about 56% are women, and directors and chiefs are approximately 53% women.
Our facilities are in Venda do Pinheiro, Mafra, in the metropolitan area of Lisbon, and it is possible to find our products in different commercial spaces, from large stores, to warehouses and street stores, throughout the national territory, continent and islands.
Open to the world, we work with dedication and commitment to take our products to different continents, being possible to find them in Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Chile, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, S. Tomé and Príncipe, Morocco, Tunisia and Gabon.

Our history
Founded on January 10, 1975, the origin of the name is based on the two initial letters of the words Fábrica (factory) and Pincelaria (Brush), to which was added the first letter of the word Limitada, being the initial company name Fapil – Fábrica de Pincelaria, Lda.
At the time, the founders Joaquim Teixeira and Conceição Teixeira, Portuguese, around 40 years old, had just returned from Mozambique with their sons, and, together with a few more partners, created Fapil with the aim of providing support for families returning from former colonies and who had no form of support in Portugal.
Initially, we produced brooms and whitewash brushes, and we sell toothbrushes and brushes. With the production of brushes (for household, personal and industrial use), mops and bathroom items we quickly expand, leading us to a strong and expressive growth.
In the 1980s, due to the increase of product diversity, the company name, as well as the type of company, was changed to Fapil – Industria de Escovaria, SA. New manufacturing and storage facilities are built, with a total area of construction of 4.550 m2.
The continuous growth leads us again to an increase in facilities during the 1990s, with a total construction area of more than 5.600 m2, with the addition of new types of products.
With the beginning of the second millennium, we increased our productive capacity and the types of products available, through the automation of the mop production process and the acquisition of the first plastic injection machines, having been the first to introduce the use of recycled plastic in the manufacture of storage boxes, at a time when it was not common practice in other companies.
During the first decade of the new millennium, there was a new growth in infrastructure, currently reaching a total construction area of more than 11,000 m2.
With the evolution of the diversity of the product types, seeking to satisfy the needs of our customers, we currently have a set of products much more diverse than just brushing. Thus, in 2015, we updated the company name to Fapil – Industria, S.A.
Over the years we have invested heavily in improving infrastructures and technological advances, investing in structural improvements and new machines that allow for an increase in the productive capacity and well-being of employees.
Since the date of its foundation, we have always invested in innovation and sustainability, developing new products and seeking to find new forms of production, more advanced and more environmentally friendly.
